Magnetic satellite launch system

Launchpoint Technologies have developed a proposal of a magnetic satellite launch system(pictured). This would allow for much cheaper launches as the operating costs of this technology are about 20% of what is currently spent.

Unfortunately such a device will be unsuitable for human\animal cargo’s as it launches at about 6 km/s and exerts roughly 10,000 Gs of force. (The centrifuge that NASA use to test astronauts can only simulate up to 20Gs of force)

Chernobyl: Forgotten Tragedy

On the 26th April 1886 there was a meltdown at the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Station. Most of us have heard of this tragedy but I think that many of us have forgotten about it and what it means today.

It is going to take 48000 years for the radiation levels in Chernobyl and the surrounding area to reach a normal level again. It will be able to start being populated again in 400-600 years time.

Currently these are ghost towns.
